Past Trenches excerpts:
WNL, October 21st:
Thanks to Steve for sharing more about what Revival really means and what it would take in our own lives to help bring it about. He talked about being aware of God's holiness and convicted of our own sin. And about how truly desiring Revival isn't enough. It will require sacrifice and will stretch you and bring you to a place where you relentlessly seek to get rid of sin and pursue God's will for your time, desires, resources. Are you willing to give up everything to follow Him?
WNL, April 1st:
Thanks to Ashley for sharing about some of the pain that she has dealt with over the past several years at school and how God has challenged her to love those that have caused some of the pain. It took a lot of guts to share stuff that has been such a struggle and brought her to some pretty low times. But God has been faithful to her and has plans for her and for those around her. Please continue to pray for encouragement for Ashley as well as for God's work in her friend Natalie's life as He's been opening some doors for Ashley.
Because of sin in our world, things have never been as God originally intended. The pain we experience shouldn't come as a surprise because our world is broken. But that's exactly why God sent His Son to save us, to bring healing, to bring hope. The pain of sin and the hurt that it causes his children grieve God's heart as well. If you've been carrying a heavy burden around, if there is deep pain and hurt that has kept you from experiencing all that Christ offers you, talk to someone about it. Pastor Steve, an advisor, a parent, a friend. There are so many who want to be able to pray for you, encourage you, and help bring healing.
WNL, Mar 25th:
Thanks to Bekah for sharing about how God has been speaking to her and how she is following His lead. Bekah shared from her journal some of the things that God had spoken to her over the past year, about His plans for her at Midpark, about His perfect timing, about her excitement to follow and see where He's leading her, about verses that He has shown her. She shared about how she is still in the middle of all this, trusting and waiting on God's words to her to come to fruition, believing that He is going to do something amazing, something only God could do. She also shared about how a big part of these plans would be taking place the next day. God is on the move in Bekah's life and at Midpark.
Have you experienced God in this way? Have you quieted yourself, removed all the distractions, so that you can really hear God and what He is saying to you? If you haven't, it's not because He isn't speaking. He has plans for you as well, God-sized plans. If you're through muddling through each day and ready to be a part of something that you were meant for, then seek Him. Clear everything else out and give Him your time, your attention, your heart. Then let's hear from you next about how He's working in your life.
WNL, Mar 18th:
Thanks to Ashley and Tom for sharing about the steps they've been taking in their lives and how God is working.
Tom shared about how he has been trying to get a Bible study going at Berea H.S. He has been persistant and they are close to getting a place to meet. Please pray for Tom and others there that desire to encourage each other from the Bible and tell others about all that God has for them. Maybe you could be the 'Tom' in your school...
Ashley shared about a lot of ways that God has been molding and shaping her over this past year, and especially recently. From missions trips to more recently at the 30 Hour Famine, where she prayed for some pretty specific things and then God spoke to her a few days later through some songs that she heard. Also, she shared about how she has been trying to journal and record things that she prayed for and ways that God met those needs or other things He's shown her. Pretty awesome stuff. Have you surrendered yourself to the point where God can truly have His way in you and help you to become all that He has for you?
WNL, Mar 11th:
Thanks to Bekah for sharing about her experience at the 30 Hour Famine. For those who went, it was an amazing experience where they were able to meet God on a deeper level through prayer, fasting, being open before Him and experiencing different aspects of who He is. As well, the students involved raised money to be sent to help the children from the trash dumps in Peru. Want to grow deeper in your faith? Do you trust God enough to let Him take you there? Maybe you could start by looking at all the things that you hold onto tightly, that might be getting in the way of truly clinging to Him and trusting Him. What might those be for you? Ask Him to help you have a looser grasp on those things and to trust Him to fill in you what you're trying to get from those earthly things.
WNL, Mar 4th:
Thanks to Lindsey for sharing about some things that she's been dealing with at school. She shared about some struggles involved with staying pure and some of the heat that she's been taking from classmates and others at school. Pray that God would give her wisdom to be able to clearly communicate to them how valuable they are in God's sight and how He wants what's best for them. God isn't a tyrant who makes up rules just to make people follow them...rather, He's a loving Father who wants what's best for the children that He dearly loves. And what's best for our lives comes from following His Word and what it says about how we should live. Are you struggling to stay pure and facing pressure or ridicule at your school for it? Take heart!! You're not alone, even if it seems like it. You taking a public stand could be just what someone else around you needs to take the same kind of stand, make the same choices.
WNL, Feb 18th:
Thanks to Sarah and Abby for sharing about what's been going on in their lives.
Sarah shared about her struggles to follow God by not swearing while she's surrounded by people at school who don't seem to have a problem with it. A bunch of students gathered to pray for Sarah and for the hearts of her friends that she loves at school.
Abby shared about the adventure that God has been taking her on. He has enlarged her view of Him and increased her prayer life as she's seen Him challenge and change her in exciting ways. How's your prayer life?![]()
WNL, Jan 28th:
Thanks to Hayley for sharing the paper she wrote for class about why Jesus would make the best leader. Great paper (you can check it out here)! And way to go taking an opportunity to tell others about what really matters in your life. I'll never forget how powerful it was a few years back when Hayley was the ONLY one to stand at the flag pole at her school for See You at the Pole.
If YOU were the only Christian in your class, your group of friends, your work...would you take a stand? Have you? Will you? Tell us about it...
